Role Purpose
The Plant HR Head will lead the overall HR strategy and operations for the manufacturing site, ensuring alignment with business goals, workforce stability, and operational excellence.
This role acts as a strategic partner to plant leadership, driving people agenda across industrial relations, workforce planning, employee engagement, and HR operations to support a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Academic Stream
Work experience (in months)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field
- 15 - 18 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or large-scale operations
- Strong exposure to plant HR management and industrial relations
- Proven experience in managing a large blue-collar workforce
- Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to influence plant leadership
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making capability
- Ability to balance workforce needs with business priorities
Job Responsibility and key Decisions
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant HR Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the end-to-end HR function for the manufacturing site, aligning HR priorities with business and operational objectives.
- Partner with Plant Head and leadership team to drive workforce productivity, capability building, and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and execute HR strategies to support business growth, expansion, and operational excellence.
2. Industrial Relations & Workforce Management
- Maintain stable and constructive relationships with unions and employee representatives.
- Lead engagement with union bodies to ensure smooth plant operations and minimize disruptions.
- Oversee handling of employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary cases, and workforce issues in a structured and consistent manner.
- Drive proactive IR strategies to maintain a harmonious and productive work environment.
3. Talent & Workforce Planning
- Lead manpower planning, workforce optimization, and succession planning for plant operations.
- Ensure availability of skilled workforce aligned to production and business requirements.
- Drive capability building initiatives, including training and development programs for plant employees.
4. HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure smooth execution of all HR processes across the employee lifecycle (hire to retire).
- Oversee payroll inputs, attendance, statutory compliance, and HR operations for the plant.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and local regulatory requirements.
5. Employee Engagement & Culture
- Drive engagement initiatives to foster a high-performance, safety-focused, and inclusive culture.
- Address employee concerns proactively and build trust across workforce segments.
- Lead communication and change management initiatives at the plant level.
6. Government & External Engagement
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant government bodies and external stakeholders.
- Support plant operations during audits, inspections, and external reviews.
- Ensure alignment with national workforce initiatives and policies.
