Role Summary
Role Description: As the Senior Marketing Manager - Ophthalmology, you will lead the development and execution of highly impactful brand strategies to maximize the uptake, growth, and profitability of an aflibercept biosimilar. You will work closely with a cross-functional team including sales, market access, regulatory, patient support programs and medical affairs to ensure brand success in a highly competitive therapeutic area.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities for this role include: Brand strategy development: Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and stakeholders' insights to develop and implement a comprehensive brand plan to drive market share, product differentiation and revenue growth. Launch excellence: Lead the launch planning and execution for an aflibercept biosimilar product including positioning, value proposition, and messaging tailored to healthcare professionals, payers, and patients. Market analysis and business intelligence: Conduct in depth market analysis to understand the competitive environment, pricing dynamics, and customer needs and identify key performance indicators to measure brand success and continuously adjust strategies based on data-driven insights. Cross-functional leadership: Collaborate with sales, medical, market access, regulatory, supply chain, corporate accounts, and patient support program to ensure product availability and effective brand promotion and uptake. Promotional campaigns: Lead the development and execution of marketing campaigns (digital and traditional) targeting ophthalmologists, pharmacists, and other key stakeholders. Oversee the creation of promotional materials i.e., visual aids, leave behinds, patient tools, and websites and ensure alignment with regulatory and compliance. KOL and stakeholder engagement Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) healthcare professionals and industry stakeholders to drive product awareness, adoption, and advocacy. Organize and attend medical conferences and events to enhance brand visibility. Financial and forecasting management: Manage brand budget including promotional spend, ensuring alignment with financial targets. Lead forecasting activities based on market trends, demand planning and sales data. Regulatory and compliance: Ensure all marketing activities comply with Canadian regulations, Biocon Biologics internal policies and ethical standards. Patient support programs: Work closely with the patient support program lead to design, develop, and implement a competitive offering to facilitate treatment initiation, adherence and long term success Qualifications for this role: Experience: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in pharmaceutical marketing in ophthalmology (required) Proven track record of successful brand management and product launches. Experience working in a lean cross-functional matrix environment. Skills: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. High business acumen including a strong understanding of market access, specialty pharmacy business, patient support programs, forecasting and finance. Ability to challenge the status quo. Comfortable with taking risks and being innovative. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under pressure. Understanding of the Canadian pharmaceutical promotion environment especially PAAB and Ad Standards Canada. Education/Experience: MBA or equivalent in Marketing, life sciences or a related field. Position Location: Flexible Hybrid/ mostly remote. Anticipated Travel: 10% of the time to attend internal meetings/ conference and/or meet customers. Supervisory Responsibilities: Individual contributor.
