Role Purpose

The Department Head – Legal – Business Legal leads the legal function supporting all commercial, corporate, and operational aspects of the business. This role is responsible for providing strategic legal counsel to senior leadership, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, managing contractual risk, and enabling business growth through legally sound decisions. The role oversees legal business partnering across functions such as Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Licensing, and Corporate Development, while also ensuring alignment with the organization’s ethics and compliance standards.

Job Responsibility and key Decisions

Lead the Business Legal function, providing legal support for commercial operations, procurement, business development, and other business units.

Act as principal legal advisor to executive and senior management on commercial and strategic matters.

Oversee and review all major contracts, ensuring business interests are protected while minimizing legal exposure.

Guide the negotiation of partnerships, licensing deals, MA, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.

Support the company in navigating legal and regulatory frameworks in various jurisdictions.

Collaborate with Compliance, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs to support ethical business conduct and promotional practices.

Manage external legal counsel relationships, controlling costs and ensuring quality legal support.

Monitor changes in relevant legislation and advise business functions on implications.

Establish and implement standard legal processes, templates, and risk mitigation frameworks.

Lead internal legal training and awareness programs.

Key Decisions

Final legal review and approval of highvalue or highrisk commercial agreements.

Determination of litigation strategy or dispute resolution approach in consultation with management.

Escalation and resolution of material legal risks affecting business operations or reputation.

Design and approval of legal governance and risk mitigation strategies.

Selection and management of external legal counsel and vendors.
