Role Purpose

The Team Lead – MFG – OE – Special Projects is responsible for driving Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives within pharmaceutical manufacturing, focusing on Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) methodologies. The role involves leading cross-functional projects aimed at improving productivity, reducing waste, increasing compliance efficiency, and optimizing manufacturing and support processes. This individual plays a key role in building a culture of continuous improvement, aligning OE strategy with business goals, and delivering measurable performance improvements.

Job Responsibility and key Decisions

Operational Excellence Project Leadership

Lead and manage special projects focused on productivity, yield improvement, cost reduction, and cycle time optimization.

Facilitate Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and process redesign workshops.

Lean Implementation

Deploy Lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, Visual Management, and waste elimination practices on the shop floor.

Six Sigma Projects

Execute Six Sigma DMAIC projects to reduce variability, improve process capability, and enhance quality.

Use statistical tools and MinitabJMP to analyze data and validate improvements.

Value Stream Mapping VSM

Conduct current state VSM to identify bottlenecks and nonvalueadded activities.

Design and implement futurestate VSM with crossfunctional teams to streamline flow.

Training Capability Building

Train and mentor manufacturing teams and leaders on OE principles, Lean tools, and Six Sigma techniques.

Build internal improvement capabilities through Green Belt or Yellow Belt training sessions.

Performance Metrics Reporting

Define and monitor key OE KPIs such as OEE, Right First Time RFT, Cycle Time, and Cost per Batch.

Develop dashboards and reports to track OE initiatives and ensure transparency.

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with Production, QA, Engineering, EHS, SCM, and Quality Systems to implement changes and sustain improvements.

Change Management

Drive adoption of new processes and systems through effective communication, training, and stakeholder alignment.Selection and prioritization of OE projects based on ROI, risk, and impact.

Determination of LeanSix Sigma toolsets for project execution.

Finalization of futurestate process maps and improvement roadmaps.

Approval of new SOPs, workflows, or layout changes related to OE initiatives.

Escalation of change management or resourcerelated challenges to senior leadership.
