Role Purpose

The Team Lead – Business Finance plays a critical role in supporting the financial health and performance of key business units (commercial or non-commercial) within the pharmaceutical organization. This role involves managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring, and providing analytical support to business partners. The Team Lead acts as a bridge between business operations and finance, ensuring strategic alignment and optimal resource utilization.

Job Responsibility and key Decisions

Lead and manage a team of financial analysts responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for business units within the pharmaceutical company.

Provide mentorship and guidance to the team to develop their skills and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and longterm financial plans for key business divisions e.g., RD, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales.

Analyse financial performance, variances, and trends, providing actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic decisionmaking.

Collaborate closely with business leaders across functions RD, Marketing, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs to understand key business drivers and provide financial insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.

Act as the finance business partner to support key initiatives, including new product launches, cost optimization, and resource allocation.

Lead cost control initiatives to ensure that business units operate within budget and meet financial targets.

Conduct detailed profitability analyses for drug products, services, and projects, including pricing strategies, costofgoodssold COGS, and margin analysis.

Oversee the preparation of periodic financial reports and presentations for senior management, including performance vs. budget, variance analysis, and financial KPIs.

Provide recommendations to enhance financial performance and optimize resource allocation.

Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, corporate policies, and compliance with applicable regulations e.g., IFRS, GAAP.

Support external audits and internal audits, ensuring that all financial records are accurate, transparent, and comply with statutory requirements.

Lead financial due diligence, modelling, and analysis for potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships within the pharmaceutical sector.

Evaluate investment opportunities, business expansion plans, and capital expenditures to align with company growth strategies.

Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems to enhance reporting accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.

Lead initiatives to automate and streamline financial operations, ensuring scalability and accuracy as the business grows.

Proactively identify financial risks, including currency fluctuations, regulatory changes, and operational inefficiencies, and develop mitigation strategies.

Assess and manage financial risks related to new drug development, pricing changes, and market access strategies.

Engage with various departments Legal, Supply Chain, Commercial, etc. to ensure the alignment of financial goals with corporate objectives and to drive financial performance across all business units.

Provide financial expertise to support the launch of new drugs, market expansions, and strategic investments.
